Red-legged Honeycreeper

No matter how small a bird might be, in the Neotropics of Costa Rica they often do not case to amaze with colorful plumage, which sometimes seems derivate from a children’s candy dream.

The name of the Red-legged honeycreeper adds to this sweet imaginary touch of the bird’s appearance.

The males wear a striking plumage with a deep blue belly and a turquoise cap. The bright red legs look very elegant in the combination.
