The captivating look of a hunter's eyes is well represented in the owl’s face. I was fascinated by the fine details seen in the eye and the feather structures.

My Scratchboard technique gives me a great possibility to create a study of my observation. The scratchboard technique allows a very detailed work of black and white pictures. A scratchboard is made of a wooden panel covered with a basic clay layer and the surface is stained with black Indian ink. White lines were generated by scratching the surface and the remove of the ink coat.

To bring more interest to the eye and bill of the bird I decided to add some color with inks. These elements and the overall composition give an abstract vibe to the piece of art.
