This painting of a Black-Backed Gull was done in pastel technique. I have observed these beautiful gulls with the white head and dark back during my time at the North Sea Island Heligoland. The wailing sound of their voice is still in my memory from these beautiful times on the island located in the open sea far from the mainland. It was fun to portray the bird in elegant flight above the stormy waves.
