Among the trails of farmland and pasture there is always movement to discover. A mixed flock of small seed eating birds is flipping through the vegetation, hopping on the ground and dangling between tall grass blades.

And suddenly one of the little guys is jumping onto the fence, which is dividing the trail from the grassland. I loved the moment of the encounter, which felt like a greeting from the wayside.

This male Morelet’s Seedeater had an elegant black and white breeding plumage. A lovely subject to be captured in a Scratchboard work.
