Scurry Stripes

The smallest and most widespread chipmunk in North America with its characteristic dark and white stripes on the body was a lovely subject for my Scratchboard work.

I enjoyed watching this agile little rodent during a trip to the high desert of southern Idaho. The scattered landscape made of old lave stone and sagebrush at Craters of the Moon National Monument creates a habitat where the Least Chipmunk is commonly found.

These cute looking animals hide well between the rocks and cracks, peeking their striped heads out, ready to zoom and jump from one place to the next on fast little feet. I can’t help but smile when I observe them.
