Pizote

Sharp claws and a fine nose are helpful tools for the White-nosed Coati, foraging the leaf litter of the rainforest understory or climbing branches to reach some fruits.

In Costa Rica the locals call these animals ‘Pizote’. The diurnal animals are often gathered in family groups and call the Neo-tropic rainforests home. It always brings a smile to my face to watch these fearless and cheeky animals when I encounter them here in Costa Rica.
