This work shows a red kite (Milvus milvus), a fascinating raptor and Germany's heraldic animal. Furthermore, Germany has an above average responsibility for the protection of this bird species. Approximately the half of the worlds red kite breeding pairs lives in our country.
But as many birds found in our agricultural landscape, red kite population are facing a decline in numbers over the last decades due to the increasing amount of agricultural pure plantations (par example Maize mono-cultures for bio gas plants).
My work shows the majestic and so called "red dragon" in full flight and the described "Nose-Dive" shows the condition of the population in dramatically light
"Nose Dive" was displayed at the 7th annual exhibition of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists (ISSA) and received the NEWCOMER AWARD. The show was hosted by the Middletown Arts Center in Ohio, U.S.A.
